Georgia Prosecutors Warn of Prison Sentences for Trump, Top Allies

Fulton County District Attorney Fannie Willis and her prosecution team are seeking prison sentences for Donald Trump and his powerful allies, previously unreported emails reveal.

Email first report by guardianreveals the deepening hostility between prosecutors and defendants in the monumental Georgia criminal case against Trump and his key allies.

“We have a long road ahead of us,” Willis wrote in an unpublished email to Trump's lawyers last month. “We will continue to practice as lawyers long after these people go to prison.”

Willis and his team allege that Trump and his co-defendants violated extortion laws as part of their efforts to overturn the 2020 election results. A small number of defendants, including Jenna Ellis, Sidney Powell, and Kenneth Chesebro, rebelled against Trump, presumably to avoid long prison sentences for themselves.

Trump's allies have called the incident a politically motivated “legal stunt” and maintain that Trump did nothing wrong.

Ms. Willis maintains that her case is simply about law enforcement, but her actions and words do not necessarily support her claim.

Willis has said he is in no rush to resolve Trump's legal issues before the November election, and recently revealed that he still intends to take Trump to court on Election Day 2024. did.

“I think there will be a trial in that case, but I think the trial will take months,” she said. washington post Global Women's Summit. “And we don't expect a conclusion until the winter or very early 2025.”
