Georgia receiver Zachariah Branch taken into custody days before the 2026 NFL Draft

Zachariah Branch, a former wide receiver for Georgia, was arrested early Sunday morning on two counts of misdemeanor obstruction according to police reports from Athens-Clarke County. He’s considered a potential second-round pick for the 2026 NFL Draft.

The charges against him included blocking a public sidewalk or roadway, often seen as loitering, along with obstructing a law enforcement officer.

Branch was taken into custody at 1:26 a.m. and was released on a $39 bond by 3:44 a.m., as per jail documentation.

Details surrounding the incident have not been disclosed, and efforts to reach Branch for a comment were unsuccessful.

Prior to his arrest, Branch was involved in signing autographs with teammates at the G-Day scrimmage at Sanford Stadium.

He made headlines during the NFL Scouting Combine for running a 4.35-second 40-yard dash, catching the eye of numerous NFL teams.

The NFL Draft kicks off on Thursday, with the second and third rounds scheduled for Friday, and the remainder happening on Saturday.

Branch was named an All-American at USC, where he played for two seasons before transferring to Georgia in 2025. During his single season with the Bulldogs, he not only led the team in receptions and receiving yards but also broke the record for the most catches in a season, tallying 81 receptions for 811 yards and six touchdowns.

Notably, he topped the SEC last year in catches with those 81 receptions.
