Georgia Tech Upsets No. 12 Clemson in Thrilling Match

Georgia Tech secured a stunning 24-21 win over No. 12 Clemson on Saturday, effectively halting the atmosphere at Bobby Dod Stadium. The game, which showcased some high-pressure moments, saw Georgia Tech tie the game late in the fourth quarter.

With just 25 seconds left and the game tied, Clemson faced a crucial third and fourth down situation. They opted for a draw play with quarterback Haynes King, even though they didn’t have any timeouts left. King managed to gain two yards but remained just shy of the boundary as the clock ticked down.

As the clock expired, Georgia Tech’s offense moved onto the field, with their special teams preparing for a potentially game-winning 55-yard field goal attempt by kicker Aidan Beer. Interestingly, this would be an all-time high for him, considering his previous longest kick was 51 yards.

Despite the pressure, Beer’s kick drifted dramatically but ultimately curved back in, clearing the upright as the crowd erupted in celebration. It was indeed an electrifying moment, with fans pouring onto the field to share in the excitement of the upset.

King had a significant impact on the game, completing 19 of 27 passes for 216 yards and also rushing for 103 yards on 25 carries, including a touchdown.

On the other side, Clemson quarterback Cade Klubnik struggled, completing 15 of 26 passes for 207 yards, throwing one touchdown, but also losing a fumble while scrambling for 62 yards and another touchdown. His interception in the red zone and the fumble ultimately hampered the team’s chances.

This loss marks Clemson’s second of the season, placing their record at 1-2. They’ll be looking to bounce back next week against Syracuse. Meanwhile, Georgia Tech aims for a third consecutive win as they prepare to face Temple.
