A Georgia woman was kidnapped, burned and slashed by assailants as she was leaving work, according to her family.
The victim’s family told DeKalb County police that the woman, in her 60s, was attacked Wednesday as she was leaving work at an accounting firm on Montreal Avenue in Tucker, WXIA reported. The exact time the incident began is unknown, but the business closed around 5:30 p.m., and the victim’s family believes it happened shortly after closing.
The family said a man approached the woman and demanded to be let into the store. But when her girlfriend refused, the man forced her into her car, drove her to an ATM and told her to withdraw money.
During the incident, the man slashed the woman all over her body, including her face, and at one point caused burns to her face, the family said.

The man then forced the woman to drive back to work, but she managed to escape.
According to WXIA, the woman was able to drive several hundred yards down Montreal Street to DeKalb County Fire Station 22, but DeKalb Fire Chief Shanekwa Eaford told reporters that only one crew member was awake. He said it was just people. The woman made enough noise in the parking lot to get the attention of crews, who woke Eaford and other firefighters.
The fire department contacted the police, who were dispatched around 9 p.m. to suspect kidnapping and assault.
Eaford said the entire crew, including an ambulance, was at the station when the woman showed up.

“We had a DeKalb Fire and Rescue transport unit at the house and they were able to get her right away. We didn’t have to wait at all,” Eaford said.
“It was a blessing that she was able to come to us and that we were able to be here,” she added.
Police said detectives are working to find evidence that will help identify and locate the suspect.
The victim’s family said he has undergone at least one surgery since the attack and remains hospitalized.
