Georgia’s booming tech and startup scene is helping Atlanta become the ‘Silicon Valley of the south’

States like Florida and Texas are experiencing economic booms and rapidly growing populations as many Americans flee blue states during the coronavirus pandemic.

The population exodus is now spreading to battleground states as well.

Thousands of people have flocked to Georgia because of its affordability, job security, and tax-friendly policies. As a result, cities like Atlanta are emerging as technology and startup hotspots.

”[Atlanta is] sometimes mentioned [as] Silicon Valley in the south. It’s not intentional, but it’s a great comparison,” Dr. Nose Vest CEO Christy Brown told FOX Business’ Madison Alworth.

Atlanta’s business-friendly tax system and low government regulation make it a hotbed for multibillion-dollar startups.

One CEO said that although Georgia is a purple state, leaders and communities are “aligned” in the goal of maintaining a business-friendly atmosphere.

“Literally, blue or red, it doesn’t matter because obviously we’re in a purple state. Everyone agrees that business helps promote safer communities,” Flock said. Garrett Langley, Founder and CEO of Safety, told Alworth.

The focus on Atlanta extends beyond startups and entrepreneurs. Tech giants like Google, Microsoft, and Apple all have offices in the Peach State capital.

Venture Atlanta, one of the largest venture capital conferences in the United States, has fostered and supported the proliferation of startups in Georgia.

“Georgia is actually very pro-business. We want to see companies grow here. We want to build here,” said Alison Eman, CEO of Venture Atlanta. Ta.

Venture Firm Atlanta has successfully exited startups with approximately $15 billion and worked to build the infrastructure for businesses to grow.

Beyond technology, the film industry also migrated from Hollywood to the Peach State. The film industry spent more than $4 billion in Georgia in 2023, according to the Georgia Department of Economic Development.
