Georgia's dramatic catch preserves victory

In a surprising turn during a recent game, Bulldogs pitcher Justin Byrd saw his pitch sent deep into the left field by Lawless, who confidently celebrated with his teammates in the dugout. But, shockingly, Georgia’s left fielder, Cole Johnson, made an incredible leap over the wall to snag the apparent home run right out of the air.

Johnson and the Bulldogs went on to celebrate an 8-7 victory, leaving Lawless visibly stunned. He later expressed disbelief at Johnson’s catch, noting that it was something his teammate had been practicing diligently. “I couldn’t believe it when I saw him catch it,” he said.

Johnson commented on the moment, saying he knew the ball could hit the wall but was determined to get his back against it as quickly as possible. “Even if it was a home run, it wouldn’t have been too far gone,” he explained.

The game saw Tennessee leading 6-3 in the top of the seventh inning, but Georgia rallied strongly, scoring five runs and taking the lead with a three-run homer hit by Bryce Callaway.

With a current record of 17-4, the Bulldogs have shown promising performance this season, while Tennessee’s record now stands at 14-6.
