The Heart Pond video was captured at the moment when a German skydiver became the first to achieve an extreme death-defy stunt in Arizona's Grand Canyon.
Max Manow successfully performed what was dubbed as the world's first airplane hook operation. This allows skydivers to fly continuously without landing parachutes and without needing a parachute again over the Little Colorado River Valley. According to Red Bullfunded the law.
“We were always thinking about this idea, but we really didn't know what to do and then we saw this canyon,” Manou said in the 10-minute video.
“The idea was to fly to the canyon with the plane, put your back on and connect it to the plane, and leave the canyon. It's hard enough to hook it up, but once you're towed from the canyon, you'll be safe again. It is unknown that it will be towed to a height that can be dived.”
The footage shows 35-year-old Red Bull jumping out of the Cessna 182 Skylane, decorated with custom-made wings, falling freely into a narrow canyon for about 30 seconds before grabbing the handle attached to the aircraft.
The plane piloted by Luke Ikins, a Red Bull Air Force, rises to an altitude about 2,500 feet above Hell Hall Bend Canyon when Manou reaches for free fall.
After a while, he opens his parachute and lands safely on a nearby cliff, footage shows.
The video was posted by Energy Drinks Company on Tuesday, but the operation took place on November 11, 2024. The stunt was achieved in Manou's second attempt.
“I don't really know what this will bring to the future of sports, but the idea was to create endless skydives,” Manou said.
“We know who's going to take us.”
