German Tourist Dies After Cobra Bite in Egypt

Authorities report that a German tourist tragically died after a venomous cobra from a snake show bit him on the leg. This bizarre incident took place at a luxury resort in Egypt earlier in April, according to Bavarian state police, who shared details on Monday.

During a snake charmer’s performance, a 57-year-old man had the snake burrow into his pants, leading to the bite. The man’s identity has not been disclosed. He was vacationing with two relatives from Germany’s Unterallgäu region.

The hotel entertainment event was held at the resort city of Hurghada, which is well-known as a popular destination for tourists, offering luxury all-inclusive packages along with nearby desert and water excursions.

Officials stated that two snakes, likely cobras, were used in the show. Investigators noted that it’s not uncommon for performers to allow audience members close contact with the snakes, as some attendees had portions of the snakes wrapped around their necks during the exhibition. However, this particular snake slipped into the man’s clothing and bit him.

Following the bite, the victim exhibited clear signs of distress and required immediate resuscitation. He later died shortly after reaching a local hospital.

Bavarian police are currently waiting for the results of toxicology tests. The investigation is being managed by the Memmingen Criminal Police Station, under the oversight of the Memmingen Public Prosecutor’s Office.

Cobras are recognized for their potent venom, which can lead to respiratory failure and paralysis if not treated without delay.

Fox News Digital has requested further information from the Memmingen Public Prosecutor’s Office.
