Germany-Denmark Euros match delayed amid scary thunderstorm

The Euro 2024 round of 16 match between Denmark and Germany in Dortmund on Saturday was temporarily suspended due to a heavy storm.

Thunder, lightning and heavy rain fell at Signal Iduna Park, causing the referee to stop the match after 36 minutes with the score tied at 0-0.

“Due to bad weather, the match has been postponed. More details will be announced shortly,” said a statement displayed on a screen at the stadium.

The match resumed after a break of around 25 minutes and a short warm-up for the players.

Many fans in attendance chose to take shelter under the stadium’s overhang while they waited out the storm.

For a moment, the storm created a makeshift waterfall, sending water cascading down the rafters and onto the sidelines inside the stadium.
