Gerrit Cole bulldogs Yankees into ALCS with gutsy Game 4 win

The Yankees made it to the playoffs, and their ace played a big role in that.

Gerrit Cole allowed the Yankees one run in seven innings on six hits in Game 4 against the Royals in Kansas City on Thursday night, helping the Bronx Bombers advance to the ALCS.

Gleyber Torres started the night with a double, then Juan Soto singled to force one batter before his bat quickly helped him out.

Torres and Giancarlo Stanton had the other two singles in the third and fifth, respectively.

Clay Holmes clinched the win in the eighth inning, and Luke Weaver pitched a scoreless ninth inning to clinch the ALCS berth.

The Yankees are currently awaiting the winner of the Guardians vs. Tigers series to advance to Game 5.
