The daughter of a journalist allegedly spat on and assaulted Orem, Utah, Mayor David Young and another individual after a City Council meeting Tuesday night.
Linnea Pugmire, 31, faces multiple charges, including two third-degree felonies for threatening an elected official and one count of assault. according to Fox 13.
Michelle Lee captured the incident on video. “It was really scary and unexpected,” she told the magazine.
“Get out of my face,” Young says in the video, just before the suspect spits on him.
According to the outlet, arrest documents said the issue arose due to “personal concerns with family members.” Pugmire’s mother is Jenelle Pugmire of the Daily Herald.
At a City Council meeting earlier that night, Young spoke of his displeasure with Jenelle Pugmire’s reporting, calling them “derailed articles.”
“I’m not going to make a big deal out of this. It’s just that this incident keeps happening and this keeps coming up in this newspaper,” Young said at the four-hour mark of the video. Ta. “That’s not correct.”
“My intention was to point out the article, make the point, and then let people decide for themselves and ask the question: Is this fair? Is this right?” Young Said KSL TV.
“It was scary,” Lee told Fox13. “I’m with her mother and her sisters, the mayor, the city attorney, and I don’t know what her plans were. She was very unstable and free-spirited,” she said. said.

The video shows Pugmire repeatedly telling the mayor, “Don’t do that.”

“He deserved it,” Pugmire said in the video, after being asked why he spat on the mayor. The video shows Pugmire being arrested and taken away by police.
