Jerod Mayo’s first season as head coach just got more interesting.
On Sunday, October 20th, Mayo’s new-look New England Patriots will fly overseas to take on Trevor Lawrence’s Jacksonville Jaguars at Wembley Stadium in London, England.
The Week 7 game will be the Patriots’ second overseas trip in recent years. Last year, they played against the Colts in Frankfurt, Germany and lost 10-6.
Both teams had disappointing results in the 2023 season. New England fell from 8-9 to 4-13 in 2022 and severed ties with longtime head coach and eight-time Super Bowl champion Bill Belichick. Jacksonville missed the playoffs with a 9-8 record, just like in 2022.
During the offseason, the Patriots strengthened their roster by signing veteran quarterback Jacoby Brissett and top draft pick Drake Maye. The Jaguars’ big acquisitions include defensive tackle Arik Armstead, wide receiver Gabe Davis and center Mitch Morse.
