DOJ Engages with Ghislaine Maxwell on Child Sex Crimes Investigation

Attorney General Pam Bondy has announced that the Department of Justice (DOJ) plans to meet with Ghislaine Maxwell, a co-conspirator of the late Jeffrey Epstein, to discuss potential information she may have regarding others involved in child sex crimes.

Maxwell is currently serving a 20-year sentence at a federal correctional facility in Tallahassee due to her involvement in trafficking minors.

In December 2021, she was convicted on five federal charges, which included conspiracy to entice minors to travel for illegal sexual activities, participating in those activities, and various trafficking offenses.

A significant segment of President Donald Trump’s support base has called for the release of all documents related to Epstein.

Bondi made her announcement on social media, sharing a statement from Associate Attorney General Todd Blanche.

“This Department of Justice will not shy away from pursuing truths or justice based on the facts,” the statement read. The joint declaration made by the DOJ and FBI on July 6 remains valid.

“President Trump directed us to release all credible evidence. If Ghislaine Maxwell possesses information regarding the perpetrators of these crimes, the FBI and DOJ will consider her statements,” it continued.

“Following the direction of Attorney General Bondy, I have reached out to Ms. Maxwell’s attorney to see if she is open to discussing matters with our prosecutors. I hope to meet with her shortly. Up until now, there has been no inquiry from our administration regarding her willingness to converse with the government.”

Maxwell’s attorney, Oscar Marx, confirmed the upcoming meeting, stating that Ghislaine is committed to being honest and appreciates President Trump’s efforts to uncover the truth.

Alan Dershowitz, a former Epstein lawyer, suggested that Maxwell should testify before Congress about Epstein’s trafficking activities, arguing that her sentence is overly harsh.

“In essence, Ghislaine Maxwell is serving the sentences that Epstein would have faced,” Dershowitz stated. “She shouldn’t be imprisoned for 20 years. Instead, she should be released, testify before Congress, and receive full immunity to share everything she knows.”
