Ghislaine Maxwell was seen leisurely walking with an umbrella on a sunny day at the federal prison in Bryan, just days after Congress decided to release documents related to Jeffrey Epstein.
A video that surfaced on Saturday captured Maxwell, dressed in blue athletic attire, as she strolled through the greenery of the Texas prison, where temperatures recently hovered in the low 70s.
She had a sizable water bottle and carried a black umbrella, reminiscent of Mary Poppins, perhaps to shield herself from the sun or to stay a bit low-key.
On November 8, the treatment of inmates in Texas became a hot topic following leaked emails shared with NBC News by the House Judiciary Committee, indicating that Maxwell was thought to be receiving “special treatment” at the Bryan facility since her transfer on August 1.
In correspondence with family, Maxwell expressed, “I feel like I’ve stepped into Alice’s Wonderland,” reflecting her perception of the place.
She claimed to be “very happy here, and above all I’m safe.”
Letters from Maxwell also indicated she had personal interactions with the warden, who assisted her in coordinating with lawyers to prepare legal documents.
On October 6, the Supreme Court denied her attempt to contest her criminal conviction.
Inmates at Fort Bryan alleged in their letters that Maxwell was receiving “VIP treatment.”
On November 19, President Trump signed a bill mandating the Justice Department to release all documents concerning Epstein’s sex crimes to lawmakers.
The president has pointed out that releasing these files might politically harm Democrats more than Republicans, especially given their push for transparency in recent months.
Additionally, it came to light that Larry Summers, the former president of Harvard, had a close relationship with Epstein, which led to him resigning from his teaching role, as well as from the board of artificial intelligence company OpenAI.
