Giancarlo Giammetti offers his NYC penthouse for $17.5 million

Valentino Co-Founder Lists NYC Penthouse for $17.5 Million

In a notable move, Giancarlo Giammetti, one of the founding figures behind the iconic Valentino Fashion House, has listed his sprawling penthouse in New York City for $17.5 million. This announcement was made on Monday and highlights the luxurious Sutton Place area.

Interestingly, Giammetti purchased the residence back in 2010 for $18.5 million, marking a loss in his investment.

At 83, Giammetti reflects a rich legacy in fashion, having co-founded Valentino in 1960 when he was just 18 years old, alongside designer Valentino Garavani. The brand, recognized globally for its high-end appeal, has dressed many celebrities over the years, including notable names like Anne Hathaway and Jennifer Lopez.

This penthouse, as one might expect from such a reputable designer, is nothing short of impressive.

Located on the 54th floor of One Beacon Court, an architectural achievement designed by Cesar Pelli, the residence boasts spectacular skyline views and is renowned for its motor court.

The corner unit features three bedrooms and 3.5 baths, placed in one of the building’s most sought-after spots. Floor-to-ceiling windows create a bright atmosphere throughout the living spaces.

It showcases the work of Jacques Grange, an esteemed French interior designer known for his work with global fashion icons and artists, and a long-time collaborator of Giammetti.

Spanning around 3,800 square feet, the apartment is characterized by interconnected formal living, dining, and library areas that are perfect for entertaining. Upon entry, the rectangular gallery sets a grand tone.

A standout feature is the primary suite, featuring a generous 29 x 15 feet bedroom, luxurious marble bathrooms, and an elegant dressing area designed to highlight views of Central Park.

Two guest bedrooms, each with ensuite baths, are tucked away in a private wing. The kitchen, fitted with top-tier appliances by Poggenpohl, includes a cozy breakfast nook that enjoys morning sunshine from the east.

Additional features encompass a guest powder room, a laundry space, and three distinct entrances tailored for residents, staff, and visitors.

Notably, Giammetti ensured the renovation was of the highest standard, incorporating vibrant colors, exceptional lighting, and a top-notch sound system throughout the space.

The listing emphasizes that the apartment is well-appointed for a luxurious yet practical lifestyle.

One Beacon Court, located adjacent to Bloomberg Tower at 58th Avenue and Lexington Avenue, has been attracting a range of notable buyers, thanks to its emphasis on privacy, security, and breathtaking views.

Past notable residents have included figures like Beyoncé and Jay-Z, as well as prominent business leaders. The listing is being handled by Allison Bandi Ekoffman and Juliet Jansens of Sotheby’s International Realty, along with Martha Kramer of Brown Harris Stephens.
