Giannis Antetokounmpo’s mother decided to reminisce at an intriguing moment.
This comes after Wednesday’s news about the Bucks’ star forward expressing a desire to be traded from Milwaukee. Veronica Antetokounmpo posted an old photo on Facebook, showing her son on the court at Caseya Center, home of the Miami Heat.
While she didn’t include a caption, the image sparked conversations among fans about a potential move to the Heat.
There have been ongoing trade discussions involving Antetokounmpo and the Heat lately, especially since he and Miami’s Bam Adebayo share the same agent, Alex Saratzis.
Earlier on Wednesday, ESPN reported that Antetokounmpo hopes to be traded before the NBA’s trade deadline on February 5.
Several competing teams are said to have made significant offers for him, and Milwaukee is reportedly open to discussions.
However, according to ESPN, the Bucks are not looking to rush into trading their star players without receiving promising young talent or ample draft picks in return.
Reportedly, Antetokounmpo had informed the Bucks of his wish to leave at the beginning of the current season.
The Knicks had been viewed as a likely destination for Antetokounmpo when trade talks gained traction in the offseason, and they remain interested in acquiring the two-time MVP.
At 31, he will be eligible to sign a substantial four-year, $275 million supermax extension starting October 1.
Currently, he’s recovering from a right calf strain sustained during a game against the Denver Nuggets.
The Bucks are sitting in 12th place in the Eastern Conference, with a record of 18 wins to 27 losses.
Drafted 15th overall by the Bucks in 2013, Antetokounmpo played a crucial role in leading Milwaukee to an NBA championship in 2021 and was named Finals MVP.
