Giants’ Brian Burns Unhappy with Play-Calling After Loss to Broncos
In a tough game against the Denver Broncos, New York Giants linebacker Brian Burns recorded two sacks but was critical of the team’s strategy following their loss. The Broncos, led by quarterback Bo Nix, orchestrated a remarkable comeback from a 19-point deficit, ultimately winning 33-32 thanks to Will Lutz’s game-winning field goal.
After the game, Burns expressed his frustration about the defensive play-calling during a video shared by an NFL reporter. He dramatically stated, “Oh my god, absolutely. Stupid, oh yeah. I lost eight people in my coverage area.” Throughout most of the match, the Giants managed to contain Nix but faltered in the last 14 minutes, allowing critical plays to Marvin Mims Jr. and Courtland Sutton.
Once he calmed down in the locker room, Burns acknowledged that improvement on defense is a shared responsibility. He noted, “We made some mistakes… we didn’t perform well enough… we had a chance to win but gave it back to them.” Despite the loss, he indicated that Coach Brian Daboll would take accountability for the outcome while emphasizing the need for the players to execute better.
Burns has been having an impressive season, leading the NFL with nine sacks, aiming to surpass his career-high of 12.5. The Giants now sit at 2-5, facing a challenging road ahead if they want to contend for a playoff spot. Perhaps, with some adjustments, they might bounce back, but it’s clear there’s work to be done.
