The Giants have agreed to a deal that returns one of their depth players to the secondary.
Cornerback Darnay Holmes and the team have reached an agreement on a one-year contract, sources confirmed.
Holmes appeared in 54 games over four seasons.
He was a fourth-round pick by the team in 2020.
Last season, Holmes appeared in 16 games and recorded two interceptions and a forced fumble.
The 25-year-old played just 12 percent of the defensive snaps, but 45 percent of the team’s special teams snaps.
The move comes as former Giants outside linebacker Jihad Ward, 29, signed with the Vikings. the team announced.
Ward started 20 of the 34 games he played for the Giants over two seasons, recording 67 tackles, eight sacks (up from five from last season), 22 quarterback pressures and four pass breakups. .

With the emergence of Boogie Basham alongside Benton Whitley, Kayvon Thibodeau, Brian Barnes, and Azeez Ojulari, the Giants no longer have a place for Ward in the lineup.
