Observations from Thursday’s Giants training camp practice.
Great dive!
Alex Johnson, an undrafted rookie cornerback out of UCLA, will line up at safety during this camp.
He made two flashy plays, diving intercepts of passes from Drew Lock and Tommy DeVito.
Scratch Pad
I understand that teams can’t play in full gear every day.
The players didn’t let their guard down Thursday, which caused the intensity of the 11-on-11 matches to drop precipitously.
This makes sense, of course, but after filling up the pad, it wasn’t all that satisfying.
The pads will be returned on Friday.
It caught my eye
Tuesday’s practice was lackluster, but on a hot day Daniel Jones played his best game so far this summer, with touchdown passes to Malik Neighbors and Jalin Hyatt, a nice pass to rookie tight end Theo Johnson and some targeted short passes.

Injury Report
S Tyler Nubin returned to practice after missing most of camp with a calf injury.
DT Dexter Lawrence is on the field and his usage has increased as he recovers from an illness.
Special teamer Carter Coughlin was out with a lower-body injury.
C John Michael Schmitz (shoulder) did not play again.
