Giants’ Dexter Lawrence makes second consecutive Pro Bowl

On Wednesday, Dexter Lawrence became the only Giants representative to be named to the Pro Bowl.

This is the defensive lineman's second straight selection, and the first Giants player to be selected to consecutive Pro Bowls since Landon Collins was selected to the Pro Bowl three years in a row from 2016-18.

He tied a career-high with seven tackles for loss heading into Sunday's finale against Philadelphia.

Saquon Barkley was named the second alternate and Kayvon Thibodeau was named the third alternate.

Not much has gone right for the Giants lately, but Gunner Olszewski was named NFC Special Teams Player of the Week for his 94-yard punt return for a touchdown in Sunday's game against the Rams.

Olszewski's return is the longest in the NFL since 2021 and the longest with the Giants in 95 years.

Olszewski was signed to the Giants' practice squad on October 23, two days after being released by the Steelers.

He was added to the active roster on November 3. In nine games with the Giants, Olszewski returned 20 punts for an average of 12.2 yards.

Including one return in Pittsburgh early in the season, Olszewski ranks fifth in the NFL with an average of 12.0 yards per game.

OL John Michael Schmitz and DB Jason Pinnock did not practice Wednesday.

Head coach Brian Daboll said Schmitz is suffering from lower leg and ankle soreness from a whiplash to his foot during Sunday's loss, and Pinnock is suffering from a toe injury.

Rookie cornerback Deonte Banks has been limited with a shoulder injury, and Daboll said he is “hopeful” that Banks will be able to play, and that a decision on his status “may well be final. ” he added.

Matt Peart will start at right tackle in place of injured Tire Phillips, who was already filling in for Evan Neal.
