The Giants have asked the former defensive coordinator's staff for the next round of interviews to replace Wink Martindale.
Brendan Daly, the Chiefs' linebackers coach on Steve Spagnuolo's staff, has been interviewed for the Giants' defensive coordinator vacancy, according to multiple reports.
He got his first NFL job as defensive line coach with the Vikings in 2006, returned to Minnesota and played more with the Rams and Patriots before being hired as Kansas City's defensive line coach in 2019.
He then became Spagnuolo's linebackers coach before the 2022 season, which ended with the Chiefs winning the Super Bowl.
“I was interested in evolving a little bit and trying something a little bit outside of my comfort zone,” Daly said of his unusual role in June 2022. According to Chiefswire. “I think that's how you get better. I think that's how you grow and get better. That was a big part of it from my point of view. Having someone come in from the outside. In contrast, we felt there was something we could add to the group and continuity we could maintain with that transition.”
Daley won three Super Bowls, along with two other titles with the Chiefs, while serving as a defensive assistant and defensive line coach on coach Bill Belichick's staff with the Patriots.
In addition to the team interviewing Ravens secondary coach Denard Wilson, Titans defensive coordinator Shane Bowen, Dolphins linebackers coach Anthony Campanile, Giants secondary coach; Daley became the latest candidate to join head coach Brian Daboll's staff after requesting permission to interview Bobby Babich of Jerome Henderson and Chargers defensive coordinator Derrick Ansley.

Martindale and the Giants have parted ways in the latest sign of a deteriorating relationship after the defensive coordinator berated Daboll during a meeting after the head coach decided to fire Drew and Kevin Wilkins. It first made headlines during the season's FOX coverage.
After his departure, Martindale met with the Jaguars and was contacted by the Eagles, but multiple reports indicate that Vic Fangio is leaving the Dolphins to become Philadelphia's new defensive coordinator.
