Questions Surrounding Jaxson Dart

NFL fans have been buzzing about one specific question regarding the New York Giants this season: When will Jaxson Dart get his shot to start?

The Giants drafted the former Ole Miss standout in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft. Still, Dart appears to be on track to wait a bit longer before he takes the helm for the team—especially with Super Bowl champion Russell Wilson set to face off against the Commanders on Sunday.

According to reports from the NFL Network, Dart could see playing time in specific situations, which raises curiosity about how quickly he can adapt to the game. Matt Ryan, an NFL MVP, suggested it might be beneficial to evaluate Dart’s growth sooner rather than later. “If you’re Brian Daboll and Joe Shane,” he said, “the future hinges on Jaxson Dart. The quicker you assess his potential, the sooner you can develop him—and that’s crucial for the team’s growth.”

The Giants have prepared tailored plays for the rookie quarterback, as typically seen with players who have the potential to change the game significantly. This makes sense when looking back at how Taysom Hill was utilized in a similar capacity a few years ago.

Dart has already sparked enthusiasm among Giants fans with his preseason performances, but he’s expressed his desire to learn from Wilson. “Russ was incredible out there, and I just want to be the best teammate I can be,” Dart commented after the preseason, adding that his main goal is to contribute to the team’s success, whatever that may look like.

As for this Sunday, Dart will be in the backup role behind Wilson as the Giants aim to secure a win.
