Giants’ John Mara ripped by ESPN’s Domonique Foxworth for ‘patience’ comment
Domonique Foxworth is not a fan of Giants co-owner John Mara, who gave Joe Schon and Brian Daboll an as-yet-unspecified expiration date in his postseason remarks Monday.
Regarding Mara's decision to continue as the team's coach and general manager for a fourth year after a brutal 3-14 season, the former NFL cornerback revealed on Tuesday's “The Get Up” that Mara was unsure of his patience. He said it was an exception to bemoaning that he had reached his limit, explaining: It is “weakening'' a beleaguered government that is currently tasked with a quick rebuild.
“Is John Mara trying to look cool or is he trying to sympathize with his fans?” Foxworth began. “It’s very similar but a little different because it’s not embarrassing.” [Cowboys owner] Jerry Jones did just that, and this again speaks to your role as the owner and leader of this team. When you own a team, you get frustrated and lose the privilege of being a fan. ”

Mara echoed the sentiments of disgruntled fans on Monday, telling reporters that “I've run out of patience” and that “we shouldn't take too long” to right the ship.
Foxworth said those comments warmed up the room for Schoen and Daboll, but they weren't the right message to send from the top.
“By saying this, what you're essentially doing is weakening them and putting them in a situation next year where every week they're going, 'Hey, is my patience up or not?'” Players is at home thinking, 'Oh, our coach and general manager are on thin ice,''' Foxworth said.

Foxworth said that in exchange for Mara being a “funny person”, she needs to make it clear that Shane and Daboll are not given an 18-week deadline.
“You have to say, 'Look, when I made this decision, I knew these were the right people for this job.' We haven't been on the right path, but we talked about it yesterday. “Whether you did it or not,'' they presented me with a plan that I wholeheartedly believed in and that you would see as well. I don't know the timeline, I don't care how long it takes, I know they are the right people. 'And I can go home and say to my wife, 'Oh, I don't know these idiots,' but when you're in front of a camera, this is called leadership. This is what you do. ”

The Giants released Daniel Jones in November, starting from scratch at the quarterback position less than two years into a four-year, $160 million contract extension.
Shane, who currently holds the No. 3 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft (joined Daboll in 2022), said Monday that he's not going to throw a “Hurrah Mary” out of self-preservation or anything.
“We have a plan that we believe in and we intend to stick to it.”
