Kevin Stefanski to Explore Coaching Opportunities
Kevin Stefanski, former head coach of the Cleveland Browns, is already looking at potential head coaching openings, with the New York Giants among his targets.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Stefanski is also expected to have discussions with the Atlanta Falcons and Tennessee Titans.
Stefanski’s tenure with the Browns ended on Monday after the team recorded a disappointing 5-12 season in 2025, and a combined record of 8-26 over the past two seasons.
During his time in Cleveland, Stefanski was recognized as the Coach of the Year twice, leading the team to the playoffs in both 2020 and 2023, which included a notable Wild Card victory against the Steelers in 2020.
As for the Giants, the decision on their next head coach lies with general manager Joe Schoen, who will remain in his position after a rough season in East Rutherford.
Co-owners John Mara and Steve Tisch released a joint statement acknowledging that the 2025 season was “deeply disappointing” and that it failed to meet the expectations of the organization and its fans.
In the statement, they confirmed Schoen’s ongoing role in overseeing football operations and the search for a new coach, emphasizing the importance of stability in the front office.
DraftKings has already started considering candidates for the Giants’ head coach position, placing Stefanski with the third-best odds at +800.
Other potential candidates being considered by the Giants include former Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy and Packers defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley.
The day was quite busy, fittingly dubbed “Black Monday,” a time when NFL teams frequently make changes in their coaching staff and front offices. Besides Stefanski, other coaches, such as Jonathan Gannon from the Cardinals, Pete Carroll from the Raiders, and Raheem Morris from the Falcons, were also let go and are now seeking new positions.
