Caroline, the spouse of Giants pitcher Sean Hjelle, made serious allegations against him regarding infidelity and “abuse” in a TikTok video.
On Friday night, Caroline Fugel shared a clip featuring their two sons expressing distress over a 6-foot-11 right-handed individual. She mentioned that, “When my MLB husband left us on Mother’s Day this week, I finally discovered his issues and decided to stop putting up with his abuse. Now, I’m raising our two boys on my own.”
In her caption, she added, “Yeah, I had to stay silent about this for too long.”
Her post garnered over 3.4 million views by Saturday afternoon.
The Giants responded to the allegations through a statement released on Saturday. A spokesperson said, “We are aware of these serious claims. We’re in contact with MLB, as these issues fall under their jurisdiction, so we won’t comment further.”
Hjelle has not provided an immediate response through the Giants regarding these claims.
Interestingly, Caroline had previously indicated issues related to their relationship on her TikTok account. On April 8, she posted a video featuring her and their son, alluding to dishonesty about his divorce situation.
It’s unclear whether they have officially filed for divorce. Hjelle was present in the Giants clubhouse on Saturday morning before the game against the Red Sox, but he did not speak with reporters. According to sources, San Francisco’s manager Bob Melvin acknowledged that they were aware of the situation, stating, “Obviously we know about it. He mentioned it to me last night. We’ve talked with MLB, and right now it’s under their jurisdiction, so I can’t really comment on it.”
Hjelle, who is 28, has played four seasons in the big leagues, primarily with San Francisco. This season, he has made six appearances with an ERA of 4.66, accumulating seven strikeouts over nine innings.
