Giants reportedly let go of Shane Bowen

New York Giants’ Struggles Continue

The Super Bowl-winning New York Giants of years past, known for their exceptional defense featuring legends like Lawrence Taylor and Michael Strahan, have faced quite a downturn lately. It’s been about 15 years since they last vied for the Lombardi Trophy, and since their 2011 title win, they’ve only managed a single playoff victory. With the end of the 2025 season approaching, the team is undergoing yet another significant shake-up.

Recently, the Giants dismissed head coach Brian Daboll and reportedly let go of defensive coordinator Shane Bowen. Their most recent game was a tough overtime loss to the Detroit Lions, with a score of 34-27, marking yet another disappointment as they relinquished a lead. Shockingly, the team has blown a lead five times throughout this season alone.

This latest setback means the Giants’ record now sits at 2-10, which ranks them 30th in the league for points and yardage allowed. Bowen, who joined the team in 2024 after time spent with the Tennessee Titans, saw the franchise drop from a top position in takeaway/gift ratio to 26th the following year. Clearly, the Giants are in desperate need of a fresh start on the sidelines after yet another underwhelming season.

On a slightly hopeful note, the Giants do have some promising talent on offense, including Jackson Dart, Cam Skatebo, and Malik Nabors. If they can all stay healthy, there could be potential for a significant turnaround.
