‘Gilgo Beach’ killings suspect Rex Heuermann’s estranged wife to sell LI house

That's a killer deal.

A homebuyer who has $700,000 and doesn't mind eating breakfast near where cops are frantically searching for the body of a murdered prostitute could soon be looking at the real estate deal of a lifetime. I would probably end up doing this.

The estranged wife of suspected Gilgo Beach serial killer Rex Heuerman plans to sell the family's Long Island home and move far from the scene where her husband allegedly planned his gruesome murders. . The New York Times reported.

Robert Macedonio, a lawyer for Mr. Heuerman's soon-to-be ex-wife, Asa Ellerup, said the house has become a dark tourist attraction, drawing large numbers of morbid onlookers.

“People stop in front of the house all the time and stare and point and take pictures. She has lost the emotional attachment she had to the property.”

Experts argued that the single-family home's tragic history would make it difficult to sell and that it would likely be sold below market value or bought by a builder and demolished.

“I don't think the average consumer would buy that house,” he says. “Nine out of 10 consumers will be disgusted,” said real estate agent Louis Scrimenti.

The 1,323-square-foot home, which boasts six rooms, one bathroom and a fireplace, is valued at $697,200. According to Zillow.

The property was left in disrepair during a 12-day police raid on the property in July 2023, with police dismantling the home by removing part of the bathroom, tearing out furniture, and searching for DNA. They dug around in the backyard looking for evidence and more bodies.

Authorities claim they found a sordid “planning document” on Heuerman's computer that describes the steps he allegedly took to commit the gruesome murder. Macedonio said Ellerup, 61, lacks the funds to repair the house.

Heuerman's adult children Victoria, 28, and Christopher Sheridan, 35, who has special needs, have never left the house without being harassed, attorney Beth Miteff said. He says he can't even get out.

“Chris can't even walk his dog down the street. He gets photographed, people stop and take pictures, he gets taunted. They can't even check their email.”

Mitev said the children wanted to escape the “dark clouds hanging over their heads” and leave home to start “the next chapter of their lives.”

“The best thing that can happen is to tear down that house and build a brand new one and erase all memories of this,” said Albert Serra, 80, who lives in the neighborhood.

Heuerman, 60, is accused of murdering six sex workers over a 30-year period and abandoning many of their bodies on Long Island beaches. The disgraced former Manhattan architect is being held without bail at the Suffolk County Jail in Riverhead.
