Attorneys for the Gilgo Beach murder victims held a press conference to reveal new evidence in the case.

Attorney John Ray made a presentation Thursday in which he explained why he suspects Rex Heurman’s family was also involved in the murders.
“We heard a story from the Heuerman family,” Ray said.
The lawyers accused Mr Heurman’s 27-year-old daughter, Victoria, of distributing false images to the media.

The evidence revolves around some deeply disturbing images she posted and “liked” online, with Ray saying many of the images depicted similar incidents of the dismemberment and other killing methods used by suspect Rex Heurman in his murder cases.

He implied that Victoria’s strange obsession must stem from something she and her family do at home.
“You infer what she witnessed, perhaps beyond what she witnessed. I’m not going to tell you that. You infer,” Ray said.
Ray also noted that they were only able to provide a limited number of images. “I could see that they had deleted every site that she owned, every social media account,” Ray said. “She just missed these sites.”
The alleged Gilgo Beach serial killer was indicted last week on charges of murdering Jessica Taylor in 2003 and Sandra Costilla in 1993, his fifth and sixth official murders.
Authorities believe Heuerman is also connected to more than 10 other incidents.
Ray also suggested some of the murders may have involved cannibalism.
“We didn’t even post it because there are other pictures out there of people eating human flesh that are even worse than what you’re seeing,” Ray said.

“It appears to be the remains of a half-eaten human being,” Ray said.
Heuerman’s estranged wife, Asa Elerup, who filed for divorce shortly after his 2023 arrest, said she “does not find anything suspicious” about him.
Ellerup has also deleted his social media accounts.
Ray claims Victoria was “raised with this disease”.
“Taking all of this into account, can you reasonably say whether the mother really knew what was going on in the home and whether Mr. Heuermann knew what was going on with his daughter?” he said.
“These people are in our society. They are cannibals. They are monsters. They are human demons. They are evil. The Heuermans are part of it.”

Ray said he would not stop working to seek justice for the victims and their families.
