Gina Gershon’s love for Merkins wasn’t the only surprising story she told on Wednesday night’s episode. Watch live to see what happens. The beloved actress also had a fling with Tom Cruise [they] “It worked” during filming Cocktail — even though he was newly married to Mimi Rogers!
Gershon and her Borderlands Co-star Cate Blanchett stopped by the Bravo Clubhouse, where host Andy Cohen asked her if she had ever had a fling with Cruise while they were filming the 1988 romantic comedy.
“Well, tough. If that’s true, do you think I’d actually answer that?” she teased from the start.
However, Gershon pointed out that Cruise “had recently been married and his wife was often on set.”
“But we kissed as much as we could,” she admitted. “Every scene was like, ‘Should we kiss in this scene? Oh yeah, I think we should kiss in this scene.'”
Gershon says she filmed her “first love scene ever” with Cruise for the film, and although she says he was a total “gentleman,” she remembers at one point ignoring warnings that she was extremely ticklish.
“In one scene, he got under the covers and I said it tickled me, and I said, ‘No, no, don’t ever do that,'” Gershon says. “And then, in one take, I think he wanted a reaction, and he grabbed me by the stomach, and I kicked him in the nose with my knee.”
Gershon continued, “I was like, ‘Oh, my God. I just broke Tom Cruise’s nose.’ And he was like, ‘Oh no, no. You told me so.’ I was like, ‘I’m sorry.’ He was like, ‘No, that was my fault.’ He was very protective of me. He was amazing.”
Blanchett, meanwhile, couldn’t help but notice that Gershon had her hand over her chest as she praised Cruise for being protective.
“He was very protective of me,” Blanchett repeated, placing her hand on her chest, to which Cohen joked, “And my chest!”
“He just kept covering me with his hands!” Gershon joked.
