She was taken to Jacobi Hospital in stable condition, authorities said.

Police officials said it appears the victim was not the intended target.

Relatives of the victim told the Post that her loved one was standing with a group of teens when the shooting started.

One witness told the Post that he heard gunshots while he was sleeping and feared he might be fired by mistake.

“It was as loud as a normal gunshot,” the woman said.

“It's not safe,” she added.

A section of the sidewalk beneath the scaffolding was cordoned off with police tape as more than a dozen police officers and investigators worked at the scene.

Law enforcement said no arrests have been made as the investigation is ongoing.
