Days after Gisele Bündchen broke down in tears after being accused of stalking during a traffic stop, the mayor of Surfside, Florida, is showing support for the supermodel and calling on police to do a better job of showing empathy.
Mayor Charles Burkett said: “Yesterday I was disappointed to see a video of one of our residents having a conversation with one of our police officers. As we watched the video, it was clear very early on that the residents were upset and frightened. The police officer acknowledged that he knew who she was and understood the situation, but told her he could do nothing to help her.

A representative for Bundchen did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment at the time.
“I have always supported our nation’s law enforcement and all the men and women who choose to serve honorably,” Burkett concluded his letter. “What I saw in that video and the actions of Surfside union bosses at a recent meeting demonstrate that the previous Commander and union leadership has lost sight of their mission. We all hope that you will refocus our police departments on their primary mission: returning to serving residents. ”
