Glen Powell’s New Role in How to Make a Killing

Glen Powell is really stepping up in his upcoming film, and it looks like it’s going to be quite the ride.

The first trailer for How to Make a Killing showcases Powell as Beckett Redfellow, a New Yorker who’s enjoying life a bit less than he’d like, despite being an heir to a whopping $28 billion.

But there’s a twist. Beckett’s inheritance comes with a catch—seven wealthy relatives, or “rich hecklers,” who stand in his way.

To secure his fortune, Beckett decides he needs to “prune some branches” from his family tree, which hilariously implies that eliminating these relatives is on the agenda.

The action-packed trailer reveals Powell wielding a shotgun, ducking bullets, and forming an unexpected bond with Jessica Henwick’s character. There’s even a rather unfortunate moment when he gets clobbered by an anchor while out at sea.

Joining Powell are notable actors like Margaret Qualley from The Substance and Topher Grace, known for That ’70s Show, adding depth to this black comedy thriller.

The film is written and directed by John Patton Ford, who previously received acclaim for his work on Emily the Criminal. It’s interesting to note that this project draws inspiration from a classic British film, The Kind Heart and the Coronet.

How to Make a Killing is produced by A24, a notable name in indie cinema responsible for critically acclaimed films like Hereditary and Everything Everywhere All at Once, not to mention popular shows like Euphoria.

For Powell, it’s been quite a hectic year. He directed The Running Man with a stellar cast that includes Josh Brolin and Michael Cera. Additionally, he led the sports comedy series Chad Powers, which saw immediate success, ranking as the top show on Hulu and Disney+.

Recently, he also hosted an episode of Saturday Night Live, where one of his sketches became a viral hit, showcasing his range beyond just acting.
