On Sunday afternoon, a man strode into the sanctuary of the Church of the Dwelling of Jesus in North Braddock, Pennsylvania, where Pastor Glenn Germany was preaching the gospel. Unlike the Islamic terrorist who brutally murdered an Australian bishop while preaching just a few weeks ago, the man who approached Germany was carrying a handgun.
The gunman is said to have left a body at his home, but he did not leave another body in front of the altar at the Christian church.
“I started preaching, and all of a sudden I saw him on my left side moving from the back of the church to the front. Then he took up his position in the front corner of the church. , “Smiled at me” , “Germany”
Said WTAE-TV. “All of a sudden I saw a gun pointed at me and all I could do was run and take cover.”
Video of the incident shows the gunman, identified by police as 26-year-old Bernard Jr. Polite, aiming at the pastor and attempting to pull the trigger.pennsylvania state police
shown The firearm “failed to fire.”
“I thank God I’m still here because God definitely pulled the trigger,” Germany said.
pastor Said WPXI-TV, “You heard him fire. God interfered with the gun so it didn’t go off.”
When the gunman pulled the trigger, there was no thunder or gunfire, but the heroic charge of church deacon Clarence McAllister.
As McAllister closed in on Polite from behind, video showed the would-be marksman trying to get a clear view of Germany, who jumped behind the podium to help. However, before the gunman could fire, McAllister tackled him and grabbed him tightly until the German lost control of the gun.
Pastor German said the deacon who tried to protect him “could have lost his life in that fight.”
Germany added: “He sacrificed himself for everyone. He is a hero.”

Said KDKA-TV, “I had something to do, so I quickly got up and took care of business.”
The pastor reportedly spoke to Mr Polite and accepted his apology before police took him away.
German authorities told KDKA: “This man was just dealing with spirits and came in wanting to shoot someone.” “He said you dodged a taco today. That’s what he told me. And I think that’s slang for you dodged a bullet.”
WTAE reports that according to the indictment, Polite told police that he tried to shoot the pastor because Gold told him to, and that he wanted a prison sentence to clear his mind. That’s what it means.
Polite is facing multiple charges, including aggravated assault and attempted murder, so it’s likely he will need some time to get his head together. Mr Polite was refused bail. His potential role in Derek Polite’s death remains unclear.
Mon Valley East Regional Police received a call about a shooting around 8 p.m. Sunday and found the body of 56-year-old Derek Polite at a home on Stokes Avenue in North Braddock, KDKA reported. One nearby resident reported hearing gunshots earlier in the day.
Neighbors told WTAE there had never been any problems between Bernard and the victim and that they were both kind people.
“Nothing bad happened in that house. No domestic violence, no fights, no arguments that we’re aware of,” neighbor Guy Diperna said. Ta.
“I just hope it’s not Bernard, that’s all. He was a good guy and so was Derek,” said Benjamin Jordan, another neighbor.
There was a good chance Germany would end up like Derek Polite, but he seems to have been more shocked by the fact that his 14-year-old daughter had to witness the incident.
“The thing that hurt me the most and brought tears to my eyes was not being able to watch my daughter cry,” the pastor told KDKA. “I still had to be strong. I had to be strong for her and I couldn’t bear it. Just looking at her, that’s the hard part for me to digest.”
