Jamaican star runner Shericka Jackson was leading the women’s 200 metres in Hungary on Tuesday when she suddenly felt pain and had to retire.
The event was held as a tune-up for the upcoming Olympics, which begin in Paris in 2024 later this month.
Jackson’s injury is the latest setback for the Jamaican team, with Olympic gold medallist in the women’s 100m and 200m, Elaine Thompson-Heller, already withdrawn from the Games due to injury.

In the end, St. Lucia’s Julian Alfred crossed the line first, finishing in a season’s best time of 22.16 seconds, with sprinter Ranae Tava Thomas coming in third.
