We are honored to stand here tonight as the parents of Captain Humayun Khan and as patriotic American Muslims with unwavering loyalty to our country.
Like many immigrants, we came to this country with nothing. We believed in American democracy, that if we worked hard and learned to appreciate the goodness of this country, we could contribute and share in its blessings.
We were fortunate to raise our three sons in a country where they had the freedom to be themselves and follow their dreams.
Our son Humayun had dreams of becoming a military lawyer, but he gave up those dreams the day he sacrificed his life to save a fellow soldier.
Hillary Clinton was right when she called my son “America's Best.”
If it were up to Donald Trump, he would never be in America.
Donald Trump constantly denigrates the character of Muslims. He has no respect for other minorities, women, judges, or even the leader of his own party. He vows to build a wall and keep Muslims out of this country.
Donald Trump, you are asking the American people to entrust our future to you. Let me ask you a question: Have you ever read the United States Constitution? I would be happy to lend you my copy. In this document, look for the words “liberty” and “equal protection of the laws.”
Have you ever been to Arlington Cemetery? Go and see the graves of the brave patriots who died defending America. You will see people of all faiths, genders and ethnicities.
You haven't sacrificed anything or anyone.
Building walls and creating division will not solve the problem.
We are stronger together.
And we'll be even stronger if Hillary Clinton becomes our next president.
Khan recently said: Interview He told NBC News that he supports Harris for president and praises her as “someone who will unite the country.”
“Trump doesn't deserve my support. [from] America is his [a] “He's a divider,” Khan told media. “He creates hatred. Vice President Kamala Harris, on the other hand, is someone who will unite the country, who will stand for equal dignity and equal opportunity for all Americans. That's why I support Vice President Harris.”
