Gold Star mom blasts ex’s arrest for heckling Biden over death of Marine son

On Saturday, the mother of a Marine killed in the failed U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan called BS on the late hero’s father’s arrest for heckling President Biden during the State of the Union address.

“I was shocked because I thought the arrest was completely unjustified,” Shana Chappell told the Post. “He shouldn’t have been arrested, he’s a Gold Star father. Why was he arrested when he’s in the same room with the man we know is responsible for our son’s death?” Is not it?”

Chappell, 51, of Lake Elsinore, Calif., said she still struggles to survive nearly three years after her son, Lance Corporal, died. Kareem Nikoi was killed by a suicide bomber on August 26, 2021, at a military base on the outskirts of Kabul’s Hamid Karzai International Airport during the Biden administration’s failed withdrawal.

“They sent me a video of him screaming U.S. Marine Kareem Nikoy and then being arrested.”

Steve Nikoy, who yelled “Abby Gate” during Biden’s speech, referring to the military base where his son was killed, was taken into custody on charges of crowding, obstructing Congress or being in the country illegally. This misdemeanor typically carries a $50 fine.

“Accountability to me means this administration is gone, it’s no longer there,” Chappell said Saturday. “The military advisers are gone and they’re not there anymore. That’s accountability to me. Are you going to get that? No, then I want to see people lose their jobs. I want to see military advisors lose their jobs.

She also revealed what she would say if she met Biden, 81.

“The first thing I would ask him is why has he never said the names of the 13 fallen heroes?” she continued.

“Why didn’t he say anything about them? Why did he avoid saying their names?”

Chappell, who split from Nikoi in December 2022 after 27 years of marriage, said she plans to vote for Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump in November.

“Honestly, I think he’s a failure. He’s destroying our country,” she said of Biden.

“He has not been of any use to our country in any way, shape or form. Despite evidence that all he is doing is spewing lies out of his mouth and doing a terrible job. He’s just trying to make people believe he’s doing a great job.

“Our borders are wide open, homelessness is at an all-time high, crime is at an all-time high, and inflation is destroying our country.”

Messages seeking comment from White House officials were not immediately returned Saturday.

Meanwhile, Chappell said she was in a “state of shock” following the deaths of Kareem and Halverson.

“As the year was coming up, I started having suicidal thoughts,” Chappell said.

“And my son Dakota lost his life, so I became extremely suicidal. My heart was broken and I felt like there was no reason to continue living. I had no hope. Living I had no energy.”
