Just three months after the Golden Bachelor (72-year-old Jerry Turner) married contestant Theresa Nist, the pair are now claiming they have called it quits.
Although Allie Beth Stuckey “knew it shouldn’t have been Teresa from the beginning,” she still thinks the couple needs to “get through it.”
However, it seems that the two believe that divorce is the answer to their happiness. In a bizarre “Good Morning America” interview, Jerry and Teresa announced:
“We mutually came to the conclusion that perhaps it was time to dissolve the marriage,” Jerry said.
“You’re getting divorced after three months of marriage?” my husband retorted, shocked.
“Yes,” they both confirmed. “I think we both feel that it’s best for our happiness to live apart.”
“So after a whirlwind romance on ‘The Golden Bachelor’ and a TV wedding in January, all we found out was that we didn’t like each other,” Arie sighs. “You guys don’t like each other. You don’t love each other. You just weren’t willing to put in the work.”
The death of their short-lived marriage not only proves that “it wasn’t real,” but also disheartens the same people whose hopes of finding love in old age were heightened by the show. There is a high possibility.
“You have this romance that everyone thought was real, that everyone thought was sincere and so wonderful, that people who are considered past their prime are dating and falling in love. “They’re showing people… it wasn’t real.” Ally added: “Maybe there were feelings for each other, but if the marriage was already dissolved, there wasn’t that level of genuine, committed, sacrificial, committed love. ” he added.
But perhaps there is another reason why the marriage did not work out.
“Or they’re just superficial people who don’t really have any problems after marriage and just get used to living alone and realize, ‘Okay, we don’t really want to do this.’ ” she continues.
“Also, when a marriage ends so quickly, it feels like one of us ended up being very different than the other person expected…I would say Jerry had certain issues.” very different background than what was depicted [on the show]”
