Golden Globes host Nikki Glazer kicked off the night by mocking celebrities for their past support for presidents that seemingly had no effect.
When the awards ceremony began Sunday night, Glaser started by praising the celebrity room, but quickly moved on to roasting them.
“Tonight, I'm not here to grill you. I want you to know that. Really, how could I? You're all so famous, so talented, so It's powerful. I mean, you can really do anything… except tell the country who to vote for,” Glaser said.
As the audience burst into laughter, she followed up with, “But it's okay! I'll get it next time! If only I had it. It's scary.”

Several Hollywood luminaries, including Oprah Winfrey, George Clooney, Julia Roberts, Anne Hathaway, Alec Baldwin, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Golden Globe nominee Harrison Ford, joined Kamala in advance of the presidential election. He expressed his support for Vice President Harris.
Despite her support, Harris lost to President-elect Donald Trump, losing all seven battleground states and the popular vote. Harris also failed to flip counties that voted for Trump in 2020.
After she was announced as host in August, Ms. Glazer wrote a statement expressing her excitement to mock celebrity viewers, citing controversial former host Ricky Gervais as an inspiration.

“I'm really excited to host the Golden Globes,” Glazer said in a statement reported by The Hollywood Reporter. “It's one of my favorite nights on TV, and now I get a front row seat (in fact, I think I'll have to host from the stage). The Golden Globes are on TV. It's a big night, not just for movies, but also for comedy, which allows show business to be affectionately mocked. It's one of the few opportunities (at least I hope so) that not only encourages it (God, I hope so.) It's exciting because it's live, unpredictable, and done in front of But it's challenging. Hollywood's biggest stars (who may also be exhausted sitting next to their recent exes).”
