Thomas Detrie did the unthinkable in the second round of the Cognizant Classic.

No. 6 is 461 yards with water flowing on the left hand side. After hitting the fairway with his tee shot, Detrie hit his second shot 53 feet from the pin and resting on the far left side of the green.
He then delayed his birdie putt to about 6 feet before the train completely fell off the tracks.
Detrie shot a nine-over 80 and missed the cut by 13 strokes. He finished in 11 overs, four strokes behind his closest players.
One of the players in the seventh over was Michael Kim, who played with Detrie in the Cognizant Classic.
Kim, who has a huge presence on social media, added some perspective on Detrie’s debacle on the 6th.
“I was keeping track of Thomas’ score, so I asked my caddy, Lee, what the score was on the next hole, and Lee said, ‘I think it was an 8,'” Kim said. Posted in X After the round.

Detrie’s blunder disgusted golfers around the world, but it also sparked a huge reaction on social media.

Patrick MacDonald of CBS Sports also pointed out Detrie changed his grip throughout this episode on the 6th.
It was also an interesting sight to see Stefan Yeager standing there speechless and awkward.
