Every golfer has been to where Thomas Detrie was on Friday afternoon at PGA National at the Cognizant Classic in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.
Detrie was finishing the par-4 sixth and was looking for a decent birdie. The shot was cut short. When he made the par putt, he hit it a little to the left. Frustration got the better of him, and his next ball hit the side of the cup and bounced back. It took Detrie six strokes to complete the hole.

He was 4 over par before he put the ball in the hole. On this day, he marked 80 with a quadruple bogey. He missed the cut by 13 strokes.
The 31-year-old Belgian golfer plays on the PGA Tour and European Tour. He won the Challenge Tour and the ISPS Handa Melbourne World Cup of Golf with Thomas Peters before moving up the ranks. In the 2021 Scottish Open, he unfortunately lost in the playoffs.

After the round, Bud Corey became the leader. He shot a 6-under 65 on Friday and was one stroke behind Austin Eckrot and Garrick Higgo.

By the end of Saturday’s third round, Eckrot, Shane Lowry and David Skins each had a 13-under 200 to qualify for the tournament.
