John Amos died of congestive heart failure in late August, according to a death certificate obtained by FOX News Digital.
The news of the “Good Times” actor's death was announced by his son. KC Amos passed away on Tuesday, but his daughter Shannon Amos revealed on her Instagram page Wednesday that she didn't know her father had passed away until she read about it in the news.
“I have no words…Our family received the heartbreaking news that our father, John Allen Amos Jr., has undergone a gender transition on August 21st,” wrote the star of Luther Vandross' “Dances with My.”・Father” along with a video of her dancing with Amos. . ”

“This should be a time to honor and celebrate his life, but we are struggling to navigate the waves of emotion and uncertainty surrounding his death,” she added. “Still, there is some peace in knowing that my father is finally free.”
She said the family “appreciates the outpouring of love, calls and emails. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers. Thank you.”
On Tuesday, KC said in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter: “It is with deep sadness that I announce that my father has transitioned. He was a man with the kindest heart and a heart of gold…and he was loved. '' he said. Many fans around the world consider him the father of television. On Amos' death certificate, KC is listed as an informant, usually a family member who provides personal information about the deceased on the certificate.
