Google has reportedly cut at least 100 jobs in its cloud-computing division, the latest sign of an ongoing restructuring at the tech giant.
The layoffs spanned multiple roles across the cloud division, including staff from sales, engineering, operations, consulting and go-to-market strategy teams. CNBCeTransplantedCiting an internal message:
Some of the laid-off employees had recently been helping prepare for the Google Cloud Next Conference in April, the outlet reported, citing people familiar with the matter.

A Google spokesperson confirmed the cuts in a statement to The Washington Post.
“As we’ve said before, we continue to evolve our business to meet our customers’ priorities and the great opportunities ahead,” a Google spokesperson said in a statement. “We remain committed to investing in areas that are critical to our business and will ensure its long-term success.”
Google shares were flat in midday trading Tuesday.
The tech giant has carried out a series of smaller layoffs across its empire since the beginning of the year as it shifts more resources toward the race to develop advanced AI products.
In April, the company laid off about 200 employees from a “core team” of engineers who support “the technical foundation of the company’s flagship products,” according to its website.
Google also cut hundreds of jobs within its ad sales division, as well as more than 1,000 others across other divisions, including the hardware team that oversees products like the Pixel and Fitbit.
Google CEO Sundar Pichai hinted at further austerity efforts in a January memo, listing “durable cost reductions” as a company goal for 2024.
The job cuts follow a larger cut of 12,000 jobs made in early 2023.
