Google Deepmind has introduced two new AI models designed to bring artificial intelligence into the physical world by powering robots. Google is not the only company to pursue this goal at top speed. Openai and Tesla also design robots that are fully controlled by AI.
CNBC Report Google's DeepMind has announced two new AI models, Gemini Robotics and Gemini Robotics-ER (Extended Inference), which are set to revolutionize the way robots interact with the physical world. Running with Google's Gemini 2.0, these models are designed to adapt to a variety of situations, understand instructions quickly, respond quickly, and manipulate objects with dexterity. The company's goal is to take orders from AI without human control to autonomous robots.
Google has announced a partnership with Apptronik, a Texas-based robotics developer, to build the next-generation humanoid robots powered by Gemini 2.0. Apptronik, known for his work with Nvidia and NASA, recently received funding from Google in a $350 million round.
The demonstration video robot released by Google Showcase Apptronik Robots features a new AI model that performs a variety of tasks, including plugging items into a power strip, filling lunchboxes, moving plastic vegetables, and inserting bags. Although no timeline for the market release of technology is provided, this video gives you a glimpse into the potential applications of these AI-powered robots.

Google is not the only company pursuing AI in robotics. Openai recently invested in Physical Intelligence, a startup focused on bringing general-purpose AI into the physical world by developing large-scale AI models and algorithms for robots. Additionally, Tesla is entering the humanoid robot industry with Optimus Robot.
Google CEO Sundar Pichai sees AI as a valuable test site for translating into the physical world. He said the robot will adapt to its surroundings using Google's multimodal AI model and make real-time changes.
