GOP chairs 'very concerned' over report of Trump changing military commands

Republican chairs on the House and Senate Armed Services Committee issued a joint statement Wednesday criticising the idea that the United States had significantly changed the command structure of military combatants and said it would not “accept” those changes without coordination with Congress or other agencies.

The statement was one of the first major cases of Republican lawmakers pushing President Trump back into a second term.

Mike Rogers (R-Ala.) Chairman of the House Armed Services Committee and Roger Wicker (R-Miss.) Chairman of the House Armed Services Committee. I responded to an NBC News An article released Tuesday said the Pentagon is considering giving up its role as NATO's highest alliance commander Europe, or as part of the reorganization of its headquarters and headquarters.

“The US combat order is part of the American combat spear. Therefore, we are very concerned about the report we claim. [the Defense Department] We are looking at unilateral changes on key strategic issues, including significant cuts to US troops stationed overseas and the lack of coordination between the White House and Congress,” the two chairs said.

“We support President Trump's efforts to ensure that allies and partners increase their contributions to strengthening the alliance structure, and support continued leadership overseas. Therefore, we will not accept any significant changes in our combat structure without absorbing American detRact, with strict interagency processes, coordination with combat commanders, coordination with joint staff, and collaboration with the Net, and without cooperating with America's detRact,” Rogers and Wicker said.

The statement showed that if the Trump administration moves forward, a strong committee chair overseeing the creation of annual military and defense approval bills could use the power of wallets and other legislative tools to counter such changes.

The United States has been in charge of the four-star general supervisor NATO military operations in Europe for 75 years, NBC reported. The current saucer, Army General Christopher G. Kavoli, is also the commander of US Europe and oversees his support for Ukraine.
