In a controversial interview on ABC News’ “This Week,” Stephanopoulos spoke about his past criticisms of Trump and his current support for Trump over Trump’s criminal trial in Manhattan and on January 6th. and lashed out at Sununu with questions designed to paint him as a huge hypocrite. “I know it doesn’t make sense, but look at the polls. What you’re trying to tell me is you don’t understand why 51% of this country supports Donald Trump.” Sununu responded. “They’re not crazy. They’re not MAGA conservatives. They’re not extremists. They want a culture change.”

At no point in the interview did Stephanopoulos demonstrate a conceptual understanding of what Sununu was saying. Instead, he focused solely on Sununu’s decision to support Trump.
“In summary, would you support him as a presidential candidate even if he was convicted on classified documents? Even though you believe he contributed to the insurrection, would you support him as a presidential candidate? Would you support him as a presidential candidate?
