During an interview on “Fox News Live” on Sunday, Rep. James Comer (R-Ky.), chairman of the House Oversight Committee, announced his support for committee member Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. The Democratic congressman from New York is seeking to unseat fellow Democrat Jamie Raskin.
The Kentucky Republican explained his support after being questioned by co-anchor Arcel Neville.
Arcel Neville: Of course you are also a member. House Oversight and Accountability Committee. Chairman. In fact, you're also a member of the AOC fan club, and in addition to believing in a good working relationship, what kind of leadership qualities do Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez have to be effective? Can I become a member of the Director Ranking?
Rep. James Comer, Republican, Kentucky.: If you look at the current leadership of the Oversight Committee on the Democratic side, I think they were led by Jamie Raskin. So the Democratic Party has nowhere else to go but stand up. Jamie Raskin was wrong.
AOC launches bid for Democratic top job on House Oversight Committee
Arcel Neville: So how does AOC propel you, or the Democratic Party, forward?
Rep. James Comer, Republican, Kentucky.: Well, she's a better talker. You know, I think so, you know. Democrats support AOC. My support for AOC is probably hurting her. I think that's interesting. They want to go back to being boring old guys like Gerry Connolly. But look, AOC, you know, I think represents a large portion of the Democratic Party who believes in socialism, who believes in the Green New Deal, who believes in War-ism. So if Democrats want a true Democrat to lead their side of the oversight committee, I think AOC is the perfect fit for them.

Arcel Neville: What about her leadership qualities?
Congressman James Comer of Kentucky: Fortunately, since she is in the minority, she doesn't have to display leadership qualities as much. All they're trying to do is complain or sabotage or anything like that. But I think AOC is the best they got, If that tells you anything about the Democrats on the Oversight Committee. I think AOC is the best they got.

Arcel Neville: Is there anything positive you can say about how she will lead in the future?
Congressman James Comer of Kentucky: She's a much nicer person and more fun to be around than Jamie Raskin. So, yeah, again, they have nowhere to go but go after Jamie Raskin.
