Republican Rep. Claudia Tenney (R-New York) nominated former President Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize for his role in brokering the Abraham Accords.
Tenney’s nomination comes just days after three Army soldiers were killed in a suicide drone attack in Jordan. In his nomination statement, Tenney touted President Trump’s Abraham Accords, which formally normalized relations between Israel, Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
“Donald Trump was instrumental in promoting the first new peace agreement in the Middle East in nearly 30 years,” Tenney said in a statement Tuesday. “For decades, bureaucrats, foreign policy experts, and international organizations have argued that no additional Middle East peace deal was possible without a resolution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. President Trump says that’s wrong. I proved that.”
Trump, the current Republican front-runner, has been nominated for the award multiple times. The former president was appointed by Norwegian officials in 2022 to mediate relations between the UAE and Israel. He was also nominated by four Australian law professors.
“President Trump’s valiant efforts to create the Abraham Accords were unprecedented and continue to be recognized by the Nobel Peace Prize Committee, highlighting the need for President Trump’s nomination today,” Tenney said in a statement. It’s emphasized,” he said.
Tenney also criticized President Biden for what lawmakers say is a danger to the country due to his “weak” leadership.
“Now more than ever, we must recognize President Trump’s strong leadership and efforts to achieve world peace, as Joe Biden’s weak leadership on the international stage threatens our nation’s safety and security,” Tenney said. Ta. “Today, I am honored to nominate former President Donald Trump and am eager to see him receive the recognition he deserves.”
Professors, governments and members of parliament can apply for the award, which will be announced in October this year.
