GOP Nicholas Begich Leads Dem. Mary Peltola in Alaska At-Large Congressional District

Alaska Republican Nicholas Begich is leading Rep. Mary Peltola (D) in the last frontier state's statewide district, according to a poll released Monday.

Peltora Trail Begich is leading 40% to 44%, with 10% of voters remaining undecided – a notable improvement for Begich since late August, when Peltola was leading Begich 45% to 39%.

“Given Alaska's ranked-choice reapportionment method, Begich would maintain his lead in each recount scenario. If undecided voters are excluded, Begich would receive a majority of first-choice votes,” American Viewpoint, which conducted the poll on behalf of the Republican National Committee (NRCC), wrote.

American Viewpoint noted in a note that Peltola's net favorability rating has fallen from 24% in late August to just 2% favorability.

The survey found that a majority of voters, 44 percent, support having someone new represent them in Congress. The poll also found that a majority of voters have a more negative view of incumbent Democrats because they've seen, read or heard something about them recently.

Peltola's district-wide seat is one of 37 Democratic House seats Republicans are seeking to retake in the 2024 election.

investigation attention:

In summary, the more voters know about Peltola's record, the less favorable they are. Mary Peltola is running on water issues despite an initial spending advantage, largely due to Republican ads highlighting her support for Biden's policies and her negative vote for Alaska's veterans and active military. If this trend continues, Nick Begich will be Alaska's next congressman.

In an interview with Breitbart News reporter Matthew Boyle, House Majority Whip and former NRCC Chairman Tom Emmer (R-Minn.) detailed ways Republicans could expand the Republican majority.
