On Wednesday's episode of the Fox News Channel's “American Newsroom,” Rep. Tom Suzzi (D-NY) said he voted against the ongoing resolution because he didn't want Doge to “give it even more empowering” what he was doing, saying “Republicans probably want it to be shut down.”
Suozzi said it's up to them to how Democrats vote for a continuous solution, but “But the bottom line is, if you want to do a deal, you have to negotiate. And there was no negotiation at all. This was my way or highway deal from the start. And Republicans are happy with what Doge is doing. They're cutting off and they're doing some things I find very irresponsible, so I don't think it's clever for us to further strengthen that effort. …So there's a few negotiations between Democrats and Republicans to try to find a common ground for moving forward.”
The Dana Perino co-host then said, “If we shut down the government, we might fill up more government workers and allow Doge jobs to cut back on people.”
Suozzi replied. “Well, that's what Republicans probably want. That's why they didn't negotiate with Democrats in the first place. The bottom line is that Republicans control the presidency, control the Senate, control the house. They're in charge. They're doing everything. This is on them. And a lot of finger points will exchange. But if you want to complete the deal if you want to vote on the other side, you have to negotiate. That's basic politics 101. You have to try and work together.”
