Jordynn Dudley’s Rookie Season Concludes

Jordynn Dudley’s first season with Gotham FC in the NWSL has come to an unfortunate end.

The promising player has been placed on the season-ending injury list following a foot fracture she sustained during training earlier this month, as announced by the club.

At just 21 years old, Dudley had impressive stats, being named Rookie of the Month twice. Before her injury—a setback that occurred just ahead of Gotham’s match against Angel City FC on October 4—she was even considered a strong contender for Rookie of the Year.

“We’re truly disappointed for Jordynn after the remarkable rookie season she has had,” said Gotham’s president of soccer operations, Yael Averbuch West, in a statement. “She has made a significant impact in multiple areas on the field and was crucial in our chase for the NWSL Shield and a strong finish to the 2026 season. We’ll be there to support her during recovery and will do whatever we can to help her come back healthy for next year.”

Throughout this season, Dudley registered five goals and three assists in 26 matches across all competitions.

Her performance didn’t go unnoticed, as she caught the eye of U.S. women’s national team head coach Emma Hayes, earning a spot in the U-23 camp. Sadly, she had to withdraw from the roster due to her injury.

Initially, comments made by Gotham FC head coach Juan Carlos Amorós didn’t sound too alarming; he described Dudley’s situation as her just getting “a little bit hurt on her foot.”

He referred to her as Gotham’s “rookie of the year” and noted how proud the club is of her achievements this season.

Dudley, who signed with Gotham FC earlier this year, chose to leave college a year early at Florida State to pursue her professional career and was recognized as one of the top prospects in this year’s draft class.
